Ok, so as I look back on my posts I usually write on a Sunday. There is something nice about wrapping up a week's action with a blog post. I can't explain it. It just is. No today! I felt the need. So, tomorrow morning I was supposed to be on a plane to Tampa. Yes, it's hot and for the purpose of work, but darn it, it would have been fun. Now, I'm sitting home looking at an on call phone for the next 6 working days, and no Tampa. What happened you ask? Well, technically hurricanes in Flordia. Tampa ='s lots of water and danger when hurricanes come through. So I got an e-mail from my Sales Rep says that all meetings were canceled and I should cancel my plane ride. That easy, that quick. Game over. That sucked. How did I end up with an on-call phone you ask? I'm flattered that I still have your interest. Well, since I wasn't going my supervisor can take his vacation a day early. (oh yea, I'm my team lead's backup.) I was then gifted with handcuffs (not the fun kind) AKA the on call phone. That quickly my day went from fun, to less than fun. Add in we have a needy team member in from PA that I have to babysit and you go from bad to wors-er. I'm done. Rant over. For the next week I will be doing nothing but working, knitting and drinking. Stellar!

So, to say that I have been ignoring my blog is an understatement. Thanks Denise for getting me back on track! There is so much to blog about too! I got a promotion, finished the afghan, I could go on. Well, I will share pics of the new blanket, but first, business. I have been tagged.

What was I doing 10 years ago?

10 year ago I just turned 18 and just graduated from High School. Yikes! Honestly, I was scared to go to college, but I couldn't wait! I tried to find scanned pictures, but I couldn't find any. (Inset jokes about me being so old cameras were not yet invented. HAHA)

What are the five things on my list to do today?

1. Pasta with the grandparents. (LOOOOOOOOng standing tradition.)

2. Wash afghan

3. Wegmans run

4. Attend my Birthday party

5. Get ready for a nutty week at work.

Snacks I enjoy.

Not many, I'm partial to salt. Popcorn, chips, pretzels. I love them all! Anything gummi.

Things I would do if I were a billionaire.

This is the easy one. Vacation. Europe or Australia. I have not been on a real vacation is so long. That would be first! Then comes the material stuff. House, car, jet skis. You know, the basics.

What one thing would you like to learn this summer?

Cables, not just learn them, get good at them. Try different kinds as well.

Oh... the afghan, the last 8 months of my life. Here we go... drum roll...

The few...the proud

the sock knitters. (Not really few)This is my very first sock for fitting ONLY. The fit is not too bad. A little big. There will be no second sock. I am going to continue on with the afgan, for now. Then I have LOTS of new sock yarn to knit up!
Oh knitpicks sampler came on Friday. I'm a little happy. Honestly, not a bad yarn in the bunch. Like I said, lot of knitting to do.

I did it...again

Sooo much to talk about this time. I began a sock class at Village Yarn. I can see how the sock obsession begins... FIRST SOCK EVER (that's not an ornament)...

It's not bad actually. The fit isn't too far off. Not a bad first effort. Hopefully the next one will be leaps and bounds better. The plan was to frog this one and make one that fits, because I'm fond of the yarn. I don't think I can bear to tear back my first sock. It's like a baby's first curl!

Anyways, in class we were learning how to turn a heel. The comment was made that when we were done we would just know. I no sooner found this magis spot, as my brand new wooden needle snapped in half. Last knit stitch, I kid you not. I knit tight. This I know. But these needles were NOT small. Frustrating to say the least. Long story short, I am a metal DPN girl. The few, the proud!

In the last few weeks I got myself a new bag. Isn't it pretty?

I also got some comfort yarn from the Village Yarn Shop. Don't know if it will make good sock yarn, but we will see! The afgan is on hold, for now, but not for long.

Happy new year! Long time, no blog.

Knitting news- Well, let's back up. I have little patience. This may be surprizing. I am a former teacher, and I knit. But, this is the truth. I like instant gratification. Smaller projects are my bag man. So 've been knitting along on this agfan- square by square. It hasn't It really hasn't bothered me. I've really kicked it up to high gear. I'm very excited to see this put together. Not to get too personal, but my grandfather is a former Nazy man and he passed away a year ago. This makes me feel close to him and I know he would be proud. Anyways, I put it together, what I have so far. Behold. The pic doesn't do it justice. It's going to be huge. But I love it and it's amazing to see how much is done so far.

I really have put off all other projects because I'm excited! So, I was looking at my que in ravelry and I notived that all projects have something in common. They all use circular needles. Being the organizer that I am, I made a list. (I really did. Did I mention that I'm a nerd?) I'm also frugal and didn't see the point in buying over 10 circular needle sets that I would use once each. I'm a new knitter, and I don't have these supplies. So, after Christmas, armed with my Christmas money, I went to the Village Yarn and Fiber and picked up a set of denise needles. (This was not a snap decision. I did my research.) I splurged on myself and I'm very happy.

Aren't they pretty? Well, I'm off. Just wanted to give a little update. Happy Knitting!

Oh yea, I signed myself and mom up for a sock class later this month. YAY US!! Can't wait!

Well, this weekend I got to decorate for Christmas! I have a love for a Christmas Story that runs deeply. So, when I went shopping ornaments, I found these...

I did quite a lot of knitting this weekend. I finished 3 squares and completed the first stripe. Here it is...drumroll.

White Thanksgiving?

Ok so, I'm late to blog. What can I do? Well I have excuses. Want to hear them? I knew that you did! Ok, so pink eye, got sick, then work sent me to Pennsylvania for training. Guess they didn't want me in the office.... Imagine that! Anyways, White thanksgiving for us rochestarians. I must admit, it is pretty.

The first strip of the flag afgan as DONE! Only 6 more to go! Good think I like this knitting stuff. Made my first sock on DPS's. I think I did pretty well! I will post posc later. In the meantime, here is a picture of my cutie KC!

How do people blog everyday?

Seriously? Anyone? Now, I'm new to blogging. However, everyday? Impressive! I don't have the time! Kudos to all that do. It's prob a good way to look back, and remember the little things. Dude, everyday, I bow to thee.

So, on to news... I GOT MY RAVELRY INVITE!!!! WOW! All I can say is wow. Such a wealth of information. Such a good resource. My name is L2mondo if anyone wants to invite me. (That's a hint people!) I set up my page, made myself almost late to work. Looks pretty good if I do say so myself. I love the groups, and looking at other people's projects. My mantra as I look at other people's pages is the following "I've only been knitting 8 months, I've only been knitting 8 months" repeat over and over again.

Other knitting news, I have finished and jointed the first 4 states in the flag afgan. (I could use it about now!) Pics to come soon. Even though I've been WAY disappointed with how other pics have come out. I have a FAR way to go.

I GOT PINK EYE!!!!! YUCK! I've never had this monstrosity of an illness my entire life. Yes, 27 years of being pink eye free, OVER. I am no longer queen of my domain. I don't know how I've avoided it MY ENTIRE LIFE, but I have. I didn't think I had it in the beginning. Silly silly me. I thought pink eye itched, and oozed. Gross. So, it just makes your eye pink, hence the namesake. Yea, it sucks fully. I have been doing laundry and disinfecting the entire week. Worse of ALL...NO CONTACTS!!! Now people, be reasonable. I'm half blind. Contacts are expensive. I have not gotten a new pair of glasses in years. YEARS!!! I get to go back to the doctors on Wednesday to make sure that I'm clear. I'm gonna go wash my hands for the 86th time today. Bee good kids!

Weekend in Review

Friday night I went to the sevendust show. In short, I got knocked around in the mosh pit, sang my heart out, and listened to some amazing music. I don't know how great the picture is, but here you go.

On to knitting news, I finished another star, Alabama, and Alaska. So, 2 stars down, 13 more to go. 2 states down, 48 more to go! Patience young grasshopper. I decided to join squares as I make them. Doing that at the end would be a huge job. By the way, any suggestions as to how to join the squares together are more than welcome!

Can you see them? Ahh well, in person is better anyways.

This is going to get harder and harder to see. Sorry about that! I will take more pics of individual states. At this rate, it should be done sometime next week! Well, my silly job gets in the way, so there will be more updates, but it might be a little bit. Time to be a grown up and you know, pay bills, and clean. Caio!

I always feel like, somebody's watching me...And I have no privacy.

Blog people! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I love this holiday, the time of year, everything. Too bad I had to work late and probably missed all of the Trick-Or-Treaters. Thank goodness Dad brought me a surprise. Awwww....

Better late than never!

I'm new to this blogging thing. I can see spending a lot of time working on this blog...and no one ever reading. I have a myspace, kodak page, gmail, pretty much everything else. Do I NEED another way to communicate? Well, the answer is yes.

Anyways, I learned to knit in January of this year (2007) and in almost a year, I have learned a TON! Let's try this picture posting thing.

So, this was my first dishcloth. It's pure white and I LOVE it! The quares remind me of that famous picture with the stairs. Anways, I think it's pretty good for a first attempt.

Mom wanted a few for Christmas. It's no longer a surprise, so here's one.

There was pattern for an afgan that I saw on a listserve and I decised to make it. It's a HUGE project, and I will post as I go. It's an afgan made of like over 5o squares put together. I'm on #1! Hehe. This is where I will be spending a lot of my time making this afgan.

My pretty yarn! The colors are DARK! The picture does not do them justice. I'm going for rich, dark colors.

Drumroll please! The first star! I started on Friday the 26th and just finished! What can I say? I'm excited. I have a feeling the excitment will fade around square 6. Short attention span? Yup!
